Professional Learning Funding provided by Manitoba Education - Please provide details below
1)To date, how have you used the money your division received for K-8 teachers' LwICT professional learning in 2008-09 and 2009-10?
a. The majority of the funds goes towards our peer coaching program. We have coaches in every school who work with the K-8 teachers in their building. They collaborate on how to infuse ICT in the classroom.
b. The rest of the funds is used for specific ICT training. Ex. Mimio , Ignite
2) What professional learning is occurring now because of the extra funding that you previously not able to do?
a) It is funding all of our LwICT PD. Without that funding it will be hard to support ICT.
3) Does your division have any strategies for ongoing professional learning (For example: Professional Learning Community - online, face-to-face, mentors, etc?)
Yes, we have a Peer coaching program (mentoring). We use Microsoft Office Communicator as a vehicle to run our PLC.
4) What successful strategies would you like to recommend to other divisions?
You need to have some sort of mentoring program in your division. And some sort of communication software that allows teachers to reach out to others for the "just in time" training.

Transition to Senior Years
11) Thoughts on Literacy with ICT transition to the Senior Years
We are creating a 3 year plan for senior years ICT. It will have some similar concepts that the K-8 plan did.
Year 1 - Why is LwICT Important
Year 2 - How do I implement
Year 3 - How do I assess.
12 )Ongoing support for K-8 teachers
We will continue to support our K-8 program with our Peer Coaching program. Schools have the ability to request funding for LwICT funding.
